Supporting our Healthcare Services team to deliver a high-quality, timely, efficient and technically accurate service to a range of clients, the principal duties of this role will be to manage services and the client relationship for a portfolio consisting primarily of GP practice partnerships and small corporate clients. Also, to plan assignments and review work prepared and undertaken by others, and to submit finalised assignments for partner/director review.
Assignments will include sole trader, partnership and limited company accounts, tax computations, superannuation computations, benchmarking and review reports, forecasts and briefing notes to provide ad hoc advice. The principal duties of this role will require the successful applicant to:
• Co-ordinate compliance service delivery to clients and ensure that information is collected in the most efficient manner, timetabling work wherever possible to suit the needs of the client.
• Ensure that compliance deadlines are met and to liaise with all staff in the client service team to ensure work is appropriately planned and reviewed.
• Highlight issues which the partner/director needs to discuss with the client to ensure clients are given adequate notice of future liabilities and to look for tax planning opportunities.
• Plan the approach to assignments following partner/director briefing, having agreed fee budget and completion deadline.
• Maintain accurate and up to date client records and develop relationships with key individuals.
• Maintain and improve technical knowledge relevant to the Healthcare sector.
• Assist with business development for the department and be committed to CPD.
• Request help/advice/support/supervision from senior managers/director/partner where appropriate and ensure that departmental and firm-wide processes and procedures are adhered to.
• Arrange pre-completion meetings with partner/director/tax manager and completion meetings with clients on a timely basis.
• Give clear and unambiguous instructions to staff on assignments.
• Communicate both internally and externally in accordance with the firms’ values and using the most appropriate method (verbal or written) to convey information practically and in a user friendly way.
To be considered for this position, applicants will need to have:
• The ACA/ACCA/AAT (or equivalent) qualification or be qualified by experience.
• A minimum of 12 months post qualification client management experience in an accounts role within an accountancy practice.
• Up to date technical knowledge of taxation, accounting and financial reporting standards.
• An understanding of commercial risk.
• Appropriate written and oral communication skills both internally and externally.
• Appropriate computer software skills including Word and Excel.
• A driving licence and a car insured for business use.
Desirable skills include:
• Experience of medical practice accounts and the NHS pension scheme.
• Previous work experience within an AISMA (Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants) firm or ICAEW Healthcare SIG (Special Interest Group) firm.
