What are we looking for? –
Key Responsibilities:
· Demonstrate an understanding of professional developments generally and in particular as they apply to the healthcare sector.
· Able to communicate with clients by phone/on site in a confident and professional manner.
· Deliver a high quality service.
· Anticipate variances from budget and discuss with client manager in a timely manner.
· Plan and prioritise own work to meet deadlines.
· Assist others in team to meet their deadlines.
· Assist with training more junior staff.
· Obtain or prepare cost/time budgets for tasks and work within them.
· Provide accurate information in report format
· Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies under supervision
· General understanding of business tax, income tax, VAT, PAYE and implications of transactions within the accounts or partnership tax returns.
· Preparation of capital allowances calculations and business tax computations.
· Knowledge of filing deadlines and penalty regimes.
· Understanding benefits in kind principles and preparation of P11Ds.
· Competent to effectively and efficiently use SAGE/CCH, in house software packages and other client systems including IRIS/MacLean McNicoll/QBO.
· Meeting obligations to study for professional exams where appropriate.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications required:
· Consistently and accurately prepare accounts/rental statements/personal expense claims to draft stage with notes for reviewer using applicable accounting policies.
· Prepare draft corporation tax computations to enable provisions to be brought into accounts.
· Consistently and accurately prepare basic business and personal tax returns/rental statements/ personal expense claims to draft stage with notes for reviewer.
· Demonstrate working knowledge around the filing of tax returns.
· Develop an understanding of the difference between capital and revenue income/expenditure.
· Develop a sound working knowledge of the application of allowable expenditure regulations as they apply to different income schedules.
· Develop an understanding of the charges to tax for various income sources.
· Develop a good working knowledge of capital gains tax and national insurance.
· Be aware of corporation tax, vat, inheritance tax, and stamp duty.
· Assist with preparation of PSAs and dispensations.
· Develop a good working knowledge of the differing sources of income pensionable in NHS scheme and how contributions are calculated.
Essential Skills:
· Minimum of two years’ experience in an accounts/tax role, within the healthcare sector.
· Willingness to combine the demands of a full time role whilst studying for appropriate AAT or ATT qualifications.
· Ability to meet deadlines.
· Provide solutions to problems.
· Ability to be proactive.
Desirable Skills:
· AAT or ATT (or part ACA/ACCA qualified).
